In step, Alexander and Nathaniel walked down 36th Avenue towards their home. They stepped up the wooden steps and Nathaniel unlocked the door and they entered the small apartment building. The short hall held six doors, but Alexander and Nathaniel walked up the large metal spiral staircase. The fifth and topmost floor held only two doors. They separated for the first time since they left the bar. Alexander going into the right one, and Nathaniel into the left.
Alexander closed the door and heaved a sigh. The living room, or drawing room as he called it, had an old Victorian couch, a phonograph, a couple other old things with a cast iron chandelier hanging from the ceiling. He turned on the TV, (he's not that old fashioned) and sat down at his desk. He turned on the table lamp, put on his magnifying glasses, and set to work on his latest project: Reviving an old, gear-worked thing found in the Carothian Caverns. By night he's a hit-man, and sometimes by day, but usually in the day he works in the Liaarian Museum of Art in the Alien Planets wing. He is known for being able to revive anything from another planet that is ancient or broken. He enjoys his work, and never passes up a chance to repair anything. It's a puzzle to him, and he enjoys any type of puzzle. He remembered that he was famished after the all the killing.
He walked into the kitchen and reached into the pantry. Most people didn't have these, but he had one anyways. He pulled out a package of quick ice cream. He then leaded to place it into the blast freezer, putting on a timer for 12 minutes. He then returned to his work.
Nathaniel entered his apartment and instantly turned into his library/study. The large marble-topped desk was strewn with papers, books, and a bunch of his older inventions. The umbrellas that him and Alexander used were created by Nathaniel, he made Alexander's shotgun in an umbrella shaft, created a point of ignition, etc. He created his own by stretching a layer of clear, hardened metal over a thick layer of soft, woven plastic. Resistant to bullets, lasers, and electrical shocks, which are conducted into shaft, and stored into the handle.
He sat down and pulled out his newest invention he's working on. A prototype of his Invisedora, a fedora that, when put on, can project a wall of bending light, making the person completely invisible. He smiled an pulled out a toolbox to start working on it.
The clock tower rang one. Nathaniel looked up, he's been working on it for six hours. He walked sown the hall to his bedroom. It was a partially empty room only a metal night stand and a carbonite frame bed. He quickly got into his night clothes and slipped into his bed. And in 15 minutes, Nathaniel Hexx, the Hit-man and electrical architect, was asleep.
In Alexander's room, he sat in bed reading his favorite book, Paintings Out of Their Frames, all about a boy who must travel through a huge art museum traveling trough the paintings and putting them back to how they were originally after they were vandalized by his father's friends. Seeing the time on his clock, he placed his marker in his book, took of his glasses, off with the light, and went to sleep.
